Obama is winning, and the economic collapse doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the status quo. Don't forget we've yet to see the intellectual powerhouse that is Palin face off in her debate. Nobody's ever won a title fight by throwing in the towel. You didn't stick around and make Phelps buy you your fill of overpriced booze? In regard to defense spending I'm more concerned about the inability of the few remaining defense conglomerates to deliver. We still don't have a tanker contract much less a tanker, F-35 Block 1 is years away and the promised capabilities of the aircraft don't pick up until block 2 and later, the LPD-17s are massively expensive with few new capabilities, the Marines are still 5 years away from the EFV, the P-8 program is behind schedule, etc. Don't get me started on LCS and DDG-1000. Now that Gates has fired half the AF leadership I'm waiting for the sword to come down on the Admirals who supervise ship building.
