"Damn Yankees"

Words and Music by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross
Book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop
Based on the novel The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant by Douglass Wallop

Aging baseball fan Joe Boyd makes a pact with the Devil so the hapless Washington Senators can win the pennant just once, and is turned into a young power hitter. Coerced by a soul-greedy Devil and tempted by his luscious sidekick, Lola, Joe is torn between returning home to his wife and helping his Washington Senators succeed. Damn Yankees is a re-telling of the Faust tale set in the 1950's and told through song and dance.
